Alex Verburg’s biggest passion is preparing and enjoying delicious food. He is both chef and entrepreneur. 15 years ago he opened his first restaurant in Rotterdam. Soon this restaurant was nicknamed 'the Italian of Rotterdam', expressing how much guests appreciate it. As the restaurant was extremely popular, he decided to open his second restaurant, just around the corner. Most important ingredients: Fresh products and an enthusiastic team. "A majority of my team has worked with us since the opening", Alex proudly says.
Sustainability comes first
Alex has followed Sit & Heat for many years now. He noticed it on TV and was immediately enthusiastic, as sustainability is always considered of paramount importance, in all his restaurants. "Not only our ingredients are sustainable, Gusto tries to observe this important principle in all fields". Examples: energy saving refrigerated worktops and heat recovery installations. The sustainable Sit & Heat system should, of course, be part of it.

"Reactions to Sit & Heat are fantastic. Guests are surprised by the pleasant warmth", according to entrepreneur/chef Alex. At the moment it is hard to tell how many guests return because of Sit & Heat seats as we have only introduced them recently. Sit & Heat has, however, proven its added value, according to Alex. The Italian restaurant Gusto was the first of his three restaurants using Sit & Heat. "The other two will definitely follow up this example!"
