"People need to come here to experience the cosiness of former times", says entrepreneur Kees. "Since to opening of the Bistro Tante Pietje 15 years ago, the atmosphere remained the same. However, many new elements were added during the years. I believe it is a compliment that people say we renew, but they do not exactly know what has changed. The experience remains the same, that is important to me".
In 2002 Kees became the owner of Bistro Tante Pietje, his first restaurant. "In the beginning, I never wanted to miss a day”, says Kees. "So I became the face of the company". Nowadays, Kees owns two other restaurants as well. Over there, he works more behind the scenes. In contrast to Bistro Tante Pietje, where he still works as a host almost every day. "Contact with guests is what I have always enjoyed and I still do. Therefore, it does not feel like work to me. I love my job, no matter how long the evening takes", says Kees.
It is everything together
"I think that everything together makes Bistro Tante Pietje special in Den Bosch", Kees thinks aloud. "Guests enjoy the total experience of good food, good service and a nice atmosphere. Offering guests a fabulous evening results in them returning to experience the same great evening over and over again. Recently I received multiple messages from friends that Gerard Joling (a Dutch celebrity) promoted our restaurant in the best way possible. In event complex 'the Brabanthallen', he told the audience that he always goes to Bistro Tante Pietje due to the delicious food we serve. That is a great compliment"!
A few years ago, the Korte Putstraat, were Bistro Tante Pietje is established, was named as 'The terrace street of the Netherlands'. Among the restaurants in this well visited street, Bistro Tante Pietje was and still is the first with heated cushions. "Sit & Heat is still quite unique and therefore distinctive compared to fellow entrepreneurs", says Kees. "Besides that, we can offer our guests extra comfort, which results in an upgrade of the total service we offer them and that is always good"!
